Meet Elizabeth

• Comfortable with pets

I have volunteered at my local library - Altha Public Library - for four years. I was known for cleaning and organizing the premises and doing Saturday Storytime with children from 10:30 to 11:30. I would get tables and chairs set, greet the children and parents or legal guardians, help them find their seats, read to them and let them pick out what books for me to read from the choices of the theme we'd do, ask them questions, read them a poem and play with dolls as the poem was read, get them snacks, and do a hands on craft with them. In my senior year of high school, we had a career day. I chose to go work at the daycare in town and watch how the caretakers would take care of kids 0-4 yrs. I helped feed them lunch, clean their messes, help them get to nap Read more time, and play with them or give them any comfort when they were upset. After I graduated from Altha Public School, I would babysit my fiance's sisters for him and his parents when they would go out of town if they didn't take them with them. His middle sister has autism and I've learned how to communicate with her and better understand her behavior. I have also taken care of his youngest sister who is diagnosed with ADHD. It is the closest experience I have with taking care of kids - normal and special needs/learning disabilities.
