I am an early childhood educator with an associates degree in the care and development of young children from Louisiana Delta Community College. During this time, I spent my last semester before graduating in May of 2019 finishing my practicum at Early Head Start at Beverly Street in Monroe, La. Here is where I gained the most knowledge from hands on activities and interactions with children between the ages of two and four. I am currently enrolled at Grambling University, on track to receiving my bachelors degree in child development and early literacy. I also work at an adult HiSET program with the children of the students there. The ages range from one year to twelve years. I apply basic teaching concepts to a variety of topics and use a range of activities to meet each child at their level of understanding. I love children so much. They are so Read more inspiring because of their eagerness to learn and know literally everything. I have gone through a list of career choices in the past 4 years since I've graduated high school, but I haven't connected to anything more than childcare. Children are so open-minded and smart. I enjoy presenting them with new concepts in a way they can understand and watching them expand on their own knowledge, even to the point when we can research and learn new things together. Now that I am in school again, I would like to gain more experience with children in different environments. I feel as though working in a home environment would aid me in understanding how children think and move in spaces where they are most comfortable. A major goal of mine is to build my own preschool. By gaining insight about what methods and situations make them the most comfortable, it will help me construct a curriculum that will cause the least amount of stress on a child and also provide a variety of methods of exploring concepts with them. I am looking for a job(s) that will fit in with my work and school schedule. I work Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings until 12 and I go to school on Mondays and Wednesdays until 5 and also on Tuesdays until 3.
