Hi, my name is Karin Romero I am here from small town Belen. I have just recently returned to New Mexico from teaching in Colombia, yes the country. I spent two years teaching at an international school teaching 2nd and 3rd grade. I absolutely love children and the experience was a once in a lifetime yet it was time to come back home to family. I am a graduate of Fort Lewis College with my degree in Elementary Education & minor in Spanish. I have been lifeguard and swim instructor for 10 years and still hold all the certifications required. Before Colombia I was a full-time nanny for two different families in Durango, one with three kids (5yr, 3yr, 13months) and the second with two children (7yr, 14months). I have water and snow skied since the age of six. Being out on the lake has always been one of my favorite places in the whole world. In past summers and two winters ago I was lucky enough to have the best jobs in the world of raft guiding in Durango as well as teaching ski school up at Purgatory resort. I come from a huge Spanish family where most of the adults speak fluent Spanish. As I mature, I have realized the importance of the Spanish language and recently immersed myself in the culture of Colombia my experience abroad changed my life and made me who I am today. I have over 8 years of experience teaching swimming lessons and 5 years in the classroom. I have had lots of babysitting side jobs since the age of 15. Children are my passion in life and I am looking forward to connecting with your family, and providing all I have to offer your children!
