I am retired, single, and never had children of my own. People tell me that I am like "the mother of our church" because I have a nurturing personality. I began childcare as a teenager with two extended Mother's Helper/Nanny positions as well as lots of babysitting jobs. I went to college to become a HS English teacher but after travelling the US decided to join the Postal Service. Since retiring I have helped parents with their toddlers and middle schoolers. One position required a background check which was not a problem--as a Federal employee and an applicant to a volunteer in-school mentoring program I have had them done as well. As a former Rural Mail Carrier I have had defensive driver training. I own a 4-wheel-drive Jeep in very good condition and have a clean driving record.
