If I can say at the end of my career, that I reflected back a little of the magic that the children in my care have shared with me, I will count myself truly successful. I am so in awe of the developmental process that I devoted my college years to studying Human Development. I was also so blessed to grow up in my mother's early childhood classrooms, first as a student and later as a volunteer. In our weakest moments, we educators often default to what we experienced as young children, and I was blessed to be raised by a women that built entire early childhood schools based on her inherent respect for the young children in her care. For over 16 years, I have worked as an in-home teacher and in lead positions as an early childhood and art teacher at NAEYC accredited schools. I was responsible for designing and implementing curriculum for children from infancy to 13 years in age. I monitored children's physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth and development. I completed child developmental evaluations, designed individual education plans, and documented children's learning and classroom projects. I also facilitated family involvement in the classroom and school, held conferences, and maintained NAYEC portfolios and practices. While working as an art teacher, I held art classes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children in after-school care. This work has brought me the deepest joy and I feel honored beyond words to have been called teacher by so many amazing young people.
