I have always had a passion for nurturing and educating children. Through my education and experiences I was drawn to early childhood development. I attended Cardinal Stritch University and received a Bachelors in Early-Middle Elementary with a Literacy minor. While continuing working at a childcare, I also received certifications in Early Childhood and Infant/Toddler. I love being a life-long learner and continue to take courses or going to conferences to learn more about the field of education. I believe child learn and develop from birth which is why I felt a special place in Early Childhood. It is not just about the cognitive development, but also the bond that is created and the trust that is developed. Each child requires individual needs and I have gained the knowledge of that through working with children for 13 years. Each day caring for children will bring a new required skill, but I Read more feel certain skills are definitely needed for the foundation. I have been successful at my career because I am a patient person. There may be unpredictable situations or things do not go as planned and being calm and patient is key. Which leads to flexibility. As much as I am a detailed oriented person, things may change since each day is based more on the child. I have gained experience with providing the children with enough activities so boredom does not occur but learning how to handle change as each day may be different. It brings a smile to my face thinking about the innocence of a child, the excitement to learn something new and the need for someone to help. Each age has milestones for development and it is an unexplainable feeling being someone in their life that can not only experience the milestone with them, but also help encourage them to complete it.
