Additional Information About Your Benefits
University of California Office of the President is pleased to announce that Sittercity's SelectPlus will now be offered exclusively by Bright Horizons as part of the newly created Bright Horizons Care Advantage™. This new program offers you the same high-quality self-select care platform that you are used to. Starting January 1, 2014, you will notice the addition of the Bright Horizons Care Advantage™ logo to the SelectPlus website.
As a "self service" solution, you are in the driver seat to find the perfect caregiver for your family. You make all arrangements including hiring decision and payment of caregivers. UC offers this benefit to help current UC faculty and staff members find caregivers especially on short notice - so that they can get to the office or classroom with minimal disruption. To be eligible for this program, you must be a current benefits-eligible UC employee. Represented employees' eligibility for this program varies by bargaining unit. Please refer to the list of participating bargaining units. Residents/house staff are not eligible for this benefit at this time, but may access the SelectPlus program resources with paid memberships at www.selectplus.com. Post docs should use this website to access their SelectPlus benefits: http://www.garnett-powers.com/postdoc/index.htm
The SelectPlus program includes both the Sittercity and the Years Ahead programs. This program provides UC employees with access to both the local, pre-screened caregivers and the tools (including reviews, references and background checks) to review and select the caregiver of their choice. While the Sittercity company employs many pre-screening and ongoing monitoring processes and will provide support to UC employees if there are concerns, UC employees are responsible for their use of the SelectPlus programs, including selecting, hiring, paying and managing the caregivers of their choice. The use of the resources and the caregiver network available through this program should be carefully considered, taking into account individual situations and preferences. The University of California does not endorse or recommend any individual caregiver or facility.
Please note that UC and Bright Horizons do not provide and are not responsible or liable in any manner for any screening services and does not endorse or make any representations or warranties regarding the reliability, accuracy, timeliness or completeness of such services. While Sittercity may from time to time facilitate and make available to you various third-party screening services, Sittercity does not itself routinely screen providers or conduct any criminal records checks. Consequently, you should exercise caution and perform your own screening before connecting, meeting or employing anyone through a Sittercity site.
