I am a practicing board certified pediatric chiropractor and have my own practice in the KC area. I started babysitting at 13 and worked for 10 families throughout high school. The kids ranged from infants to early teens. For these families, I would entertain the children with games, outdoor activities, take them and pick them up from extracurricular activities, teach them swim lessons, watch movies, prepare snacks and meals, and put them to bed. I was a part-time nanny for a 5 year old boy while his parents worked late; I would pick him up from school, help him with homework and chores, and sometimes prepare dinner. Most recently, I was a nanny for a toddler who’s parents traveled a lot. I would spend days and overnights with her providing care and entertainment to meet her needs.
