I also have experience with children who have autism, and other special needs. I believe everything can be used as a teachable moment to teach an important skill for both students and educators. Children need to feel supported by their caregivers in order to feel comfortable enough to explore what the world has to offer. To ensure I am the most effective educator I can be, it is my responsibility to be familiar with Developmentally Appropriate Practices for the age group I’m working with, keeping up with my education and training, and learning from my own students to be more than a great educator, but an evolving one. My students teach me how to be adaptable, and inclusive, being that no child is the same, but they all deserve the same care. As an educator, I continue to learn everyday.
