I am a full-time nanny living in Chicago and I also provide babysitting services on occasion.  I have been helping with childcare for my family since I was 12 years old, as the eldest of five children, three of whom are active boys. I have always enjoyed watching over children and creating a fun, safe environment for my charges.  I have experience with infants, toddlers and preschool children, particularly preschool as I was an assistant Sunday school teacher for my church for six years.  I also did one summer as a camp counselor for a sleep-away camp, which put me in charge of 4-8 kids 22/7.  Some of my favorite activities are reading, drama and games. I became a caregiver because I had experience babysitting my 4 younger siblings growing up but also because once my siblings got older my love for kids remained. Family is important to me, and I enjoy supporting families with their unique needs and goals. I've been involved in different aspects of childcare from providing care for my nieces and nephews throughout their childhoods to volunteering as a leader in youth programs to working professionally as a freelance sitter, a long-term nanny, a summer camp counselor eventually as a summer camp director to working as a volunteer coordinator connecting volunteer tutors with families of vulnerable communities in need of academic support for their children here in Chicago. I have well over 25 years of professional Nanny/House Managing/Personal Assistant experience, in addition a to Pre-School teaching and Pre-School swim instruction background. I also have In-Home Day Care experience at my Westchester residence. I have a Child Development/Psychology background. I have an extensive medical background/CPR trained and can handle children with special needs. Kids respond to me because I am patient, outgoing, fun-loving and try to relate to them at their level. I also try to make every day a fun learning experience. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty. In the summer you can find me on the ground catching insects, teaching the children how to fish, or catching bullfrogs/ turtles to study (catch and release). I am a big nature-lover. I’ve also owned cats, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, and a cockatiel named SpongeBob! Although I am no "spring chicken" so to speak, don’t let my age deter you. I am high energy and fit, working 50-60 hours a week caring for children. On the weekends, when I’m not working, you’ll find me running around the dog show ring, or practicing agility. My current 7 month old Kasha, is working on her AKC obedience titles. She has some big paws to fill! I have a Law Enforcement/Animal Control Officer, a Medical/ Medical Computer Systems background and have also worked in the Corporate world. All of those jobs I really enjoyed. But I’m completely happy and comfortable in a private/domestic setting taking care of children and managing a household. I excel at ensuring that the household is running smoothly, and I like putting my excellent organizational skills to work. It is a very gratifying experience for me. To be successful, there needs to be teamwork and open communication. I’m a firm believer in consistency and structure...  I’m professional, comical, considerate of others, a bit of a neat freak and a little bit of a workaholic; and 100% dependable!
