Amy’s Bio

Dear families,
Thank you for taking the time and consideration to look at my page. My name is Amy, I am 28 years old and a 2006 college graduate from Emerson College in Boston. I am currently employed through the Brookline Public School system as a drama teacher , and also work as the 3-6th grade coordinator at PSED, their extended day program. I am currently in the process of obtaining my masters degree in elementary education at Eastern Nazarene College!
Why I babysit: Working with children is natural for me. I love it, and I babysit for extra money because I love it, and want to do it. Because of this, I have been able to build lasting relationships with the families that employ me, and become more than just a babysitter, but also a friend to their kids.
Hobbies/Interests: I am a loving, caring and energetic person. I love arts and crafts (I usually bring one with me), movies, theater, and being outside/traveling/taking trips to fun places. I adore animals and am also available for pet sitting. I love to travel, and am open to traveling with a family if the timing works out right.
Allergies: I do not smoke and prefer not to work in homes where there are smokers. I have no allergies to pets, and am a vegetarian.
Transportation: I have a reliable car and a clean driving record. I do not mind driving your children as part of a job, but if it is more than just a couple of miles extra compensation may be required. I drive to all my jobs so taking the T is not an option, so I do need a place to park.
My process: It is my preference that you e-mail me first to set up a time for us to talk on the phone, as my work schedule changes often. If you are only looking for occasional sitting, it makes the most sense for us to talk on the phone and you could have me come a bit early for an easier transition. If you are looking for something more regular like daytime sitting, I would be willing to meet in person beforehand.
Rates: $12-$15 hour depending on time/amount of hours and number of children.
References: I have three wonderful families who took the time to review me here on sittercity, so please check those out. To protect the privacy of those who are kind enough to be my phone references, I ask that we speak first before I give you their contact information, the last thing I want is the families I work for to be flooded with calls without warming. I have many warm and loving people who are happy to vouch for me.

Any parent would be happy to leave their kids with Amy. She has been great with our 2.5 year old for odd times, nights and weekends. Amy does more than just watch my daughter, she interacts and plays with her, takes her on outings etc. Prompt, clean and efficient, always calls back right away... Definitely 5 stars for Amy. Although I hope she doesn't get too busy for us to still call her!!

Amy has been a wonderful caregiver to our 2 year-old son--his face lights up when she comes into the house. She is caring, responsible, full of energy, fun and creative. I love coming home and seeing the two of them playing together--it's always so clear that he has had a fun day. Amy has also been very reliable and easy to communicate with; she follows instructions carefully but is also able to take initiative when necessary. She has great instincts when it comes to dealing with children!

Amy is perhaps THE best sitter hat my children have ever had. My 3 year old daughter gets so excited when I tell her Amy is coming over. She always has a craft project to do and just naturally connects with kids. I give Amy my highest recommendation.
