Born in Mexico City, grew up in the US.  Lived in CA, FL, ID, MD,ME & MA where I finished College with a double Major in Elementary Education & Psychology, in 1994. I love learning and discovering each child's personality, likes, dislikes, interests, curiosity, eventually hobbies and passions. For me it's fun to engage with a child based on those unique qualities. I have extensive experience with infants, even twins, and I'm a former high school/middle school teacher, so I have experience with older kids, too. My education experience has made me especially adept at interesting kids in outdoor and non-screen activities. Both my grad and undergrad degrees were in English, and I've taught English, ESL (English as a Second Language), and Spanish. I enjoy tutoring and am willing to help children with homework if desired. Currently a Special Ed teaching assistant, I do have some experience with children with special needs though am not certified. I am willing to provide care for children with special needs when parents feel I'm a good fit for their child. I really enjoy kids! They are naturally authentic and interested in the world. I studied Math and Education in college, and got teaching experience in classrooms ranging from kindergarten to high school. I got certified to teach secondary math, and went on to do a year of Americorps service after college. I moved to Boston in 2007 and began babysitting until I figured out what was next. I enjoyed what I was doing so much that I went on to become a full time nanny the following year. I worked for three years for a family with three children- ages 2, 5, and 7 when I started. After the youngest was off to kindergarten, I took a new position, a nanny share caring for two 2-year old girls. I’ve also babysat for multiple families over the years ranging from overnights with infant twins to school vacation help for 12-year olds. I taught the preschool class at my church for 5 years as well. In October 2012, I had a daughter of my own! I began bringing her along to babysitting/ nanny positions, which worked out quite well. In 2019, after working as a nanny/ babysitter for 12 years, I transitioned to teaching. I worked as an assistant in a combined Pre-K/Kindergarten class for four years before becoming the lead teacher of a separate Pre-K class. I had another daughter in January 2024 and am currently exploring babysitting positions where I can bring my 2-year old daughter along, especially in the summer months when I’m not teaching.

Good morning, my name is Nikita Harper and I am a babysitter. I started my undergraduate education at UMass Boston which was cut short by a mix of the pandemic and my own financial problems. I am looking to continue my education for a long time in a sea of new specialized areas, but I have had to be aware of the importance of my physical health since I was a child. Most recently, I finished my last round of chemotherapy this February, so my hair has been the perfect length for the summer as prepares for the other seasons. I am unable to focus on a "normal" 9-5 job, but I do know parents are. I have time and have spent most of that time with children, and as an adult, I would like to focus on families that will put their children and their children's health (mental and physical) as the priority, without forgetting about those paying the bills. I prefer to work with families (any shape, size, color, etc etc etc) who stand in health, so as an educator of children, I can teach them in the time you can afford to pay me. I'm very direct with adults, and soft with children, it was how I was raised. I need money to survive my basic day to day, and parents and caregivers need a complete break from their kids, any age.
