Hi! I’m Iyana 😊 I’m a graduate student at Bowie State University with over 5 years of experience caring for children ages 4 months to 12 years. I’ve worked with infants through elementary-aged kids and also spent a year and a half teaching 8th grade, including supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism. I really enjoy babysitting because every child is different, and I love getting to know each child’s personality, interests, and routines. I’m comfortable with transportation, sleep training/bedtime routines, and I’m very pet-friendly. Some of my favorite things to do with kids are playing board games, karaoke, going on walks or hikes, and cooking together. I always aim to create a fun, safe, and relaxed environment for both kids and parents.

A little about me… I have worked with children since I was 15 years old. I started out assisting in a day care center, and then when I graduated from High School, I began teaching preschool while attending college. I have worked with infants up to school age children. I taught 1st grade for 6 years, and have also taught 4th grade. I have four children- ages 10,8,4, & 3! I am very familiar with the Calvert, Anne Arundel and Prince George's areas. I grew up in Dunkirk, MD, which is in Calvert County. While attending the University of Maryland, I lived in Annapolis, MD and and relocated back to Calvert County after graduating. I like to do pretty much anything that involves the outdoors. We are involved in many different community events. They enjoy the library and the programs offered there. We're lucky to have a few local community center who plan amazing activities for the kids. Overall though, just having fun and making memories :) One of my newest hobbies is gardening. I love getting together and spending time with my family and friends.   I completed my Master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland. My degree also gives me the opportunity to become a Reading Specialist, which I plan to pursue in the near future. I'm currently looking for a family to work with on occasion or reoccurring weekday (few days a week/flexible on days), weekends, and/or date nights.
