I am simply looking to provide affordable childcare for families and help pay my own bills at the same time. I have several years of experience working with kids with 5 years as a babysitter, 1 year as a teaching assistant, and 1 year working at an in-home daycare. In my current job, I work closely with kids/families and am well educated on practices of safe sleep, first aid, and CPR. As the oldest sibling and cousin, caring for kids has always been part of my life. I took a babysitting basics class at 13 where I learned CPR and first aid, then started babysitting for family and friends. In high school, I nannied for a family with 5 kids, ranging from 5-14. I picked them up from school, took them to sports practices, cooked dinner sometimes, and even stayed the night on a few occasions when the parents were out of town. After high school, I worked at two preschool/daycare centers where I was officially certified in CPR and first aid. At these centers, I worked with all age groups, ranging from infant to 4 years. My duties included managing classrooms, creating games and activities, preparing meals, changing many diapers, monitoring blood levels for a diabetic child, and once had to administer an EpiPen to another. At this time, I also studied child development at LCC, which helped me better understand how kids learn and grow. I’m patient, reliable, creative and love creating a safe, fun environment where kids feel comfortable and supported.
