Hello, I have been caring for children for as long as I can remember, from helping raise me younger siblings to helping my mother babysit. I am a certified special education teacher. I have my Bachelor's in Education from Wayne State University and my Masters in Special Education from Arkansas State University. I have experience in supervising children and keeping them safe, conflict resolution, conscious discipline techniques, and helping children to learn appropriate playground behavior. I was a lunch aide at an elementary school for 3 years, and then I switched to substitute teaching for all grade levels. I have experience with large and small groups of children in various settings and of varying ages. My mom was also a foster parent for many of my growing up years, so I would assist her in watching the kids for a few minutes or by feeding, changing, and taking care of babies. I love children with a passion, I am fun will let kids be kids, but I also use a gentle but firm guiding hand. I'm not strict, but I have expectations of behaviors. I prefer to get children outside to play, or to use toys when inclement weather is a problem. I do not believe in using tv as a babysitter and instead prefer music. I am CPR/First Aid certified, and have other medical training as part of a previous job.
