Hello! My name is Julia, I’m 30 years old, and I was born and raised in Minnesota. I’ve been working as an independent nanny for the past several years for a few families. I have experience with a wide array of ages and ability levels, from infant to teens. I most recently was a nanny part time for a family with three boys under 4 years old. Prior to becoming a nanny, I worked as a direct support professional and independent living skills counselor in a group home and in community based settings. I worked with individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses and neurodivergent individuals, helping them learn life and coping skills. I have also worked with children with autism and Down Syndrome during my time as a nanny. I am very contentious about safety, and am fully vaccinated against COVID. I have ten plus years of child care and related experience and am CPR and first aid trained. I have also taken child development safety courses including SIDS and head trauma. In my free time I enjoy photography, arts and crafts, gardening, and spending time with my fiancé up north anywhere near Lake Superior. I am a recent college graduate working as a youth outdoor education leader at a local outdoor access and inclusivity-focused organization. I really enjoy working with and caring for kids. I have been babysitting for neighbors and helping with childcare since I was around 10 or 11 years old. I have been a mothers helper for babies only a couple of months old and have worked as a mentor with early high school-aged youth. Through my own high school experience I coached the youngest age group the 3-4 year old's and 5-6 year old's in youth soccer. The past couple of summers I have worked as a Farm and Nature Educator and Counselor at a nature summer camp and work as a Summer Enrichment Teacher at an afterschool/summer program. I am certified and trained in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED through the American Red Cross. I have over six years of experience working with children of all ages in positions as both a teacher and a caregiver, and I adore what I do. I started off as a babysitter for family friends & people in my neighborhood, and later worked as both a first grade faith formation teacher and nursery attendant at my church. Throughout high school I taught musical theatre classes for children 3-12 at a studio in Minneapolis. I first started on sitter city in 2008. It did not take long to meet and care for the children of several families. Many of the relationships were long term so I became inactive on the site. My last family moved just before Covid took hold. I had just updated my child infant CPR and first aid as I intended to start looking again. That didn’t happen because of Covid so I’m starting again now. I am a semi-retired occupational therapist with 38 years of working with children in public schools. I have three grown children of my own and am married and have a dog too. I love caring for children and my focus is on helping them play and do the activities that are developmentally appropriate for them. I became a certified babysitter for the first time when I was 11. I have always loved children, and as an adult I began working with preschool aged children professionally 10 years ago, when I worked in an infant room at a kindercare while earning a certificate of Montessori Education. Ever since I have worked in preschools, day care centers, nannied and babysat children, from ages 0-10. I love observing each child's special interests and following these to help them learn more about the world. I have experience with twins and potty-training.
