I have over six years of experience working with children of all ages in positions as both a teacher and a caregiver, and I adore what I do. I started off as a babysitter for family friends & people in my neighborhood, and later worked as both a first grade faith formation teacher and nursery attendant at my church. Throughout high school I taught musical theatre classes for children 3-12 at a studio in Minneapolis. I've nannied for the past two summers, most recently for a family with a year and a half old daughter and a 13 week old daughter, and I would really love to nanny again this summer. Outside of working with children, I'm currently a BFA Acting student at Columbia College Chicago. I have three years of dance training, nine years of training as a singer, and five years of piano. I am a grandmother of four wonderful energetic children aged 6, two 3 yr olds and a 2 yr old. I often take all four to the park, have picnics and even have wild slumber parties at grandmas house. I grew up with a much younger brother and participated in his care since his birth. I started babysitting outside of the home at the age 12, and have consistently been involved in the care of children through the years. In college, I started working with adults who were either developmentally or physically disabled. Additionally, I spent five years employed at a school that specializes in working with children diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. I currently babysit most frequently for ages one through five, however I do work daily with children 7th grade to 12th grade. I am comfortable working with children of any age. I come from a pet-free house and I do not have any of my own children. My care-giving philosophy is based on love, patience and understanding of the child in my care. I believe children should be raised according to the philosophy of the parents, not my own. Changing expectations based on the care-giver only causes confusion for the child.
