I am currently a Second Grade Teacher in Chatham County but live in Lee County. I teach at Thales Academy in Pittsboro, which is a year round school. I received my bachelors of science in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. I love kids and have dedicated my life to children. While in college, I was a camp counselor for the YMCA and then promoted to Site Director. I have done many internships in different types of educational settings. I have been a babysitter since around the age of 14. I am CPR certified. I do have a car. I am energetic and passionate about caring for others. I am looking for an occasional weekend job or an after 3:30 for a couple hours if needed!

I have been caring for children in some capacity my entire adult life and decided to make it my career about 10 years ago because I wanted to make my own happiness my goal in life. And being around the infectious joy of children seemed like the perfect place to do that. I’ve worked as a nanny and also in a daycare classroom but far prefer private childcare setting. Daycare classrooms make it so hard to meet the needs of the individual. I maintain CPR and first AID certifications as well as safe sleep, SIDS and prevention of maltreatment of children. I believe in a gentle disciple approach and that children can be given firm boundaries and consistent correction without ever having to be hit or using harsh discipline. We learn through play in the environment around us. And I believe in building confidence in kids through letting them explore their own mistakes in a safe space, helping them learn through them. Our mantra is “messes happen! No big deal!” While we clean up and try again. I also grew up here in Moore County and am choosing to raise my own son here as well. He’s 10 years old now and going into the 5th grade this year. Can’t wait to get out there and explore all there is to being a kid in our beautiful Sandhills with your little one!

I got us some cookies and drinks and she wanted more cookies. But she had enough and when I told her she had enough. She look at me dead in my eyes.
