I have babysat/nannied for the last 20 years both part time and full time. I graduated in 2006 from Framingham State College where I majored in Early Childhood Education and Psychology. I taught preschool for 3 years and have nannied since.  I have experience with children of all ages, and have taken care of up to 5 children at a time. Hello! My name is Carmen and have been providing childcare since 2017. At that time I was taking care of 2 boys ages 2 1/2 and 5 1/2 months old. In April of 2019 the the parents had a 3rd child so I was then providing care for the 3 boys until September of 2019 when the parents moved to Idaho to be closer to family. I then provided childcare for 2 children while their Nanny was on maternity leave which was about a 3 month period. I have been taking care of a 2 1/2 year old boy since August of 2021 thru February 2023 but he is now attending daycare.I enjoy taking the children outside weather permitting as well as playing and reading. I became an early childhood educator because I want to leave the world better than I found it. More often than not, children are my best teachers because of how vulnerable, emotional and honest they are. I started working as a nanny in 2013 while I was taking classes at Middlesex Community College, and knew then that I wanted to work with primarily with young children. While earning my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Care at Bridgewater State University I discovered and became passionate about mindfulness. Mindfulness is “focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations”. I have developed and implemented mindfulness curriculum, teaching infants, toddlers and preschoolers at The Children's Center at Groton, Concord and Newton Montessori Schools. My goal is to use mindfulness to raise more compassionate and empathetic people. I am currently continuing to work towards these goals as a part-time graduate student studying Community Arts & Education at Lesley University.
