Hi, I'm Alexa! I grew up in Bucks County, then attended college in Philadelphia and graduate school in Pittsburgh. I am an occupational therapist by training and have worked with individuals of various ages and abilities, most recently at a school for children who have autism. This unique professional lens allows me to help the children I care for to grow and learn in meaningful and engaging ways! I've also worked for many different families over my 14+ years as a caregiver as both a regular and occasional babysitter, and as a part-time nanny. I’ve always loved spending time with kids and have carried that passion into my career as an OT. One area I focus on heavily as a caregiver is getting to know the children on a personal level. I believe it is essential to understand how a child thinks and feels, as well as their preferences and interests, because this allows you to communicate and interact with them most effectively. I promote engaging and substantial conversation about their day at school, their friends, their family, favorite colors, pets...anything to get them expressing themselves and building valuable social skills! I also have knowledge in various areas of child development, so I aim to develop engaging activities that encourage learning and growth. I'm very adaptable and I make a point to learn a family's routine and adhere closely to that to help children to feel comfortable and safe even when their parents are not around.  As an individual, I am outgoing, compassionate, mature and responsible. I am active, imaginative, and adventurous. I am a caregiver who will be right there on the floor or field or playground with your children, helping them to laugh, learn, and grow. Some of my favorite activities include: singing and dancing, riding bikes, exploring nature, doing arts and crafts, reading, playing games and sports, dressing up, cooking and baking, and learning new things. Whenever I babysit/nanny kids I help them with their homework, I drop them off and pick them up from school, I drive them to appointments, and I do other tasks that the parents need me to do. I also did a background check & motor vehicle check. For my background check, I’m all good. I can email you a copy of my background check report. But for some strange reason my motor vehicle check shows I didn’t meet minimum requirements. Back in 2019, I accidentally forgot to yield at a stop sign, and I got a ticket for it. So that’s why my motor vehicle report says I don’t meet minimum requirements. I’ve never had a DUI or anything major like that. I am a good driver! My driver’s license is in good standing. So I am able to drive your kids to school or doctors appointments & they’ll arrive there safely. But I’d also be more than happy to email you a copy of my motor vehicle report and my background check report if you’d like. Hello! I’m a mom of a 4 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. I stay home with them 6 out of 7 days of the week and I work per diem as a RN on the other day. I’m looking to start child care out of my own home on either Thursdays or Fridays- potentially both. If you’re able to drop your kiddo off at my house then our kids can all play together and I can include your child in our typical day of fun activities. Plenty of imaginative play, arts and crafts, music, puzzles, and cooking. We also love being outside in any type of weather so long as we’re dressed appropriately!
