Hi there! I'm a junior at Columbia University, studying Urban Studies and Architecture. I'm originally from Kansas City and DC, and just got back this fall from Reims, France, the capital of Champagne, where I studied Political Science for two years. I'm outgoing, energetic, and caring with kids, and react well in emergencies. I tutored kids of all ages throughout high school, so I'm great with homework help. I have a valid drivers' license and am happy to run errands. I love teaching kids to be responsible for themselves, instead of being overbearing and authoritative in telling them what to do and not to do. I love making art, playing outside, and cooking with kids. Since I've been abroad since high school, I haven't been able to babysit as much as I used to, and I miss hanging out with kids! I nannied a pair of twins from ages 2 to 7, and have also babysat less longterm for several other families with children in the same age range. I was studying law in college when I ended up having my child and realized my passion laid with children and decided to pursue a degree in childhood education instead. Throughout the last 20 years as a teacher and managing services for children with developmental disabilities in the department of health and department of education I have worked as a nanny.on the side for supplemental income. I have extensive experience with premature infants up to middle school children and with children on the spectrum, with ADHD or speech delays. I am well versed in the milestones a child should achieve and as a caregiver I implement age appropriate goals to make sure that I work with each child on all their domains of development including their cognitive, sociall, language, academic (if applicable) and physical; although safety is always my #1 priority. Working with children requires patience, empathy, being passionate about it and understanding that every child is different in their own way. I believe that good communication between parents and all caregivers is essential so that everyone is on the same page. As a mom myself I understand how difficult it can be specially for first time parents to separate from their child and feel like they are "missing out" or having a sense of guilt kick in and I'm here to make the process easier and provide ease. For parents with multiple children struggling to find alone or couple time, I am there to insure your mind is at ease with regards to your children’s care while you get some much needed girl/self/couples time.
