Jasmine’s Bio

HI, my name is Jasmine. I live in Highland, N.Y and am the proud mother of a 5 year old little girl. I have over 10 years of childcare experience. In those 10 years of childcare experience I have worked as a babysitter, nanny and mothers helper. I have worked with children ranging from infants, newborns, toddlers, preschoolers, pretens, as well as adults and children with disibilities. I am a great multitasker and have watched up to 5 children at once. I love working with children and I am honored to be trusted with the care of gods precious gifts. I have always loved children and show every child the love, dedication and attention that I would show my own daughter. I love to use educational activities to help stimulate childrens minds. I love reading them books, dancing with them, getting down on the floor and getting dirty, and acting silly. I am your all around loving, silly, playful mom. I am very flexible and have open availibility.

Unreliable & Irresponsible

We hired Jasmine on Dec of 2013 and it was the worst choice we've ever made. I started a new job the same week we hired Jasmine so it was extremely important for her not to miss any days babysitting for us.We had specifically told her that she needed to be reliable and just after the fourth day babysitting, we got a text; not even a phone call?telling us that she was sick..She took off Friday,Mon,Tues and Wed..Try explaining that to your new boss! I had to take time off from my new job the first week and scramble to find a new babysitter. As working parents of a small child in need of a reliable babysitter, this is the last thing we expected from a so called professional babysitter. She wasn't even professional enough to verbally talk to us on the phone but rather decided to text us instead. She showed no consideration for our baby or our jobs..Never again!

Provider's Response

I want to start off by saying that I have never had any bad reviews in my entire life, up until this family. I have many families that would vouch for my professionalism, reliability, attendance, and great work ethic. This family was by far the worst family I have ever worked for starting with the non-trust issues, unrealistic requests, and expectations. It's true that I did miss work within the first week of starting work with Sandra, but with very good reason. I WAS SICK WITH THE FLU, AND HAD DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE IT. On Wednesday morning when I woke up I could barely talk, was coughing up mucus, and was sneezing my life away, so I immediately informed Sandra that I was sick, and I told her that I didn't think it was a good idea for me to come to work sick, because I didn't want the liability of getting her son sick. Sandra insisted that I still come to work, and against my better judgment I went to work that day. I was told not to pick up the baby at work, and not to breathe on him while I was at work. How do you expect to take care of a kid, and not do those things? That's why you don't have your sick nanny come to work. On Friday morning, I awoke with a fever of 103, was throwing up, and had diarrhea on top of the other symptoms I already had. I told Sandra that I was very sick, and that I was going to the hospital. She told me ok, and to keep her updated, and so I did. After spending multiple hours in the busy hospital, my fears were confirmed, and I WAS TOLD I HAD THE FLU, AND THAT I COULD'T WORK, AND I HAD A DOCTORS NOT NOT TO WORK. I told the doctor that I needed to go to work, because my boss just stated her job, and she couldn't miss work, and he said if you go to work this child will get sick, what you need is to stay home and rest until you are better. As soon as I knew what was going on, I immediately notified Sandra, she told me ok, and to keep her updated. It was ironic that I thought everything was ok, and that I would be returning to work after I took the time the doctor told me to take that my friend had told me that my boss posted my job on care. com. Oddly enough, she contacted my friend for an interview, and my friend declined the job, because she already knew that I had to go through. I didn't miss work to stay home, and play around. I WAS SICK WITH THE FLU, AND THAT WASN'T PLANNED. Any person who has the best interest of their child would never want their child to get sick, and would understand that their nanny having the FLU, is serious, and would be bad for their child. From the first day, I started working from Sandra I was told that there were cameras all over the house which is fine. I didn't have a problem with that, but what I did have a problem with was being babysat all day by her sister who drove all the way up from Long Island to babysit me. I figured since there was cameras there was no need for all that, and it doesn't exactly serve for very good start in trusting one another. She treated me like a baby, and like I didn't know how to do my job. I've been working with kids since I was 13, and have an 8 year old daughter, so I think that qualifies me along with my many references from multiple families. Each day I walked into something new, and ridiculous. First off I was there to take care of the baby, and somehow I was told I had to run around, and chase the dog, and take the babies toys out the dogs mouth. I don't think anyone would be to fond of this idea considering you don’t know the dog, or demeanor. After trying this a couple of times, the dog snapped at me, and tried to bite, me so I told them that I didn't feel comfortable getting the toys out the dogs mouth, and the family insisted that the dog never bit anyone. My job was to take care of the baby NOT THE DOG, AND SOMEHOW THIS BECAME PART OF MY JOB. In order to have time with the baby, I would have to constantly deal with the dog, because he would get jealous and keep taking the babies toys. It was annoying, exhausting, and not part of my job, and I'm sure no one would want to deal with that. Another day I would get a ridiculous phone call saying to stay in front of the cameras, which is practically impossible the way they are positioned, and with the biggest factor that this child is fully walking, and running. If they wanted the child in a specific area then they should have gated off the other areas. Am I supposed not let the kid walk in his own house? I would get phone calls saying to keep the volume of the tv to 18, to turn off the tv when I went upstairs to put him down for a nap, and to watch the baby monitor for the whole entire 2 hours that the baby slept, which I did. I was paranoid the whole time, because mom allowed the baby to sleep with a blanket over his face, which is never a good thing, but she’s the mom, so I did everything that she asked. Last, but not least there was the last, and most disturbing issue. I was told that I was changing the baby too much, that diapers were too expensive, and that in an 8 hour day, that I was to only change this child's diaper 3 times. THAT'S AWFUL, AND I WAS AGAINST THIS, but respected the parents’ wishes. No parent would want their child to get a diaper rash, because that's painful to the kids. If you can't afford to change your baby properly then you probably shouldn't be having babies to begin with in my opinion. At the end of the day, Sandra not once ever expressed her unhappiness with me about anything. In fact, she told me to get better, and to keep her updated, and I did the whole time. Talk about unprofessional-ism, it wasn't until Wednesday when I was about to text her letting her know that I would be returning to work that I received a text from her stating that she wanted to mail me my money from the days I worked, and that she would no longer need my services. She never said to me that she was unhappy, and looking for a new nanny. I found out through a friend, and saw the posting on care.com That's not very professional to tell me that everything is ok, and then go behind my back, get a new nanny, and then post an awful review on my page to try and ruin my reputation. I will end with this, I missed work with valid reason. I WAS SICK WITH THE FLU, AND I THOUGHT SANDRA UNDERSTOOD THAT AS SHE LED ME TO BELIEVE, BUT THEN LATER I FOUND OUT DIFFERENTLY. All of this stress and frustration for $170 a week??? Good luck finding someone that will deal with the unrealistic requests, nonsense, and ridiculousness. I've said my truth, defended myself, and told my side of the story. Thank you to everyone who took the time out to read my side of the story, I apologize for the length. Have a great day. In addition if any families have any questions in reference to this family, please do not hesitate to ask. I would be glad to answer any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have :)
