I have spent 10+ years working with families as their sitter/nanny, in overnight camps, in day camps, and with after school programs. Working with kids and giving the next generation a sturdy, supportive foundation is one of my passions and greatest joys. Families looking for a nanny or sitter who have LGBTQIA+ or neurodivergent members will have priority with me because I have lived experience in these areas and can empathetically relate. I know it can be hard for these families to find child care providers, and all kids deserve excellent caretakers. As a responsible & entrepreneurial young woman I began babysitting at the age of 11 & I was a gymnastics coach & camp counselor for 4 years during & after high school. In college at the U of MN I received my bachelor’s degree in Family Social Science & since then I have cared for many wonderful children from 2 weeks old to teenagers. Darla’s Bio I am originally from Laguna Beach, California! I have 3 brothers and have always been surrounded by kids! I attended college in Eugene, OR to pursue an Early Childhood Development degree. After a year of college, I traveled to Sri Lanka to live locally and volunteer daily at a Special Needs Orphanage. I then followed an opportunity to Spain to be an Au Pair for a family with a daughter with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. I had a full time nanny position in Encinitas, CA, from August 2018- August 2019(Ages 4 and 9). I have worked in 3 different Montessori schools since moving to Portland. I am currently a live in nanny with a family I have worked with and loved for 3 years! However, Both children are in full-time school now. So I am looking for a part-time positions. I am working on becoming a certified postpartum doula and gaining more infant experience! The bulk of my experience is toddler age! I am fully vaccinated and boosted! I have babysat for many friends and families over the past 7 years, before and after school, on weekends and consistently throughout the summer. I also worked in a daycare, part-time during high-school, interacting and taking care of children starting as young as 2 months old. I got to be a nanny for two adorable girls, Every time I see them , they say I’m the best baby sister they ever had .
