I'm Carmen, and since I was a child, I've loved interacting with children of all ages, from babies to teenagers. I love seeing how they learn, how they observe, and how they develop their skills.I've learned to be patient and understand how each child is different, how they express their needs, and how they learn. I've taken courses on positive discipline and assertive communication. I've had the opportunity to work with children of all ages, and always providing structure in their activities and giving them time to play, learn, play sports, and discover their interests together is something I love and makes me give my best. I have been in this field of work as a child care provider for 20 years. I am currently working as a teacher assistant. I also have experience in babysitting, as I am currently babysitting for parents. As for my training, I did go to college to get my certificate to work in a classroom. I got to be a nanny for two adorable girls, Every time I see them , they say I’m the best baby sister they ever had . I just really enjoy infants, babies, toddlers , preschoolers , Elementary schoolers, time with them I drop everything giving them loving , attentive care, making it a memorable experience for them. I’m from the East Coast and moved to Portland two years ago and live outside Ladds Edition. I’m an experienced nanny and went to school at Western Kentucky University for special education. I am also an experienced petsitter and was a veterinary technician for five years I absolutely love spending time with kids and watching them grow. I refuse to lose my child like wonder. I have babysat for many friends and families over the past 7 years, before and after school, on weekends and consistently throughout the summer. I also worked in a daycare, part-time during high-school, interacting and taking care of children starting as young as 2 months old. I love going on adventures, playing sports, being outside, trying new & creative things, baking/ cooking as well as working together and using an imagination to have fun! I have been a nanny/babysitter for as long as I can remember! I absolutely love kids and teaching them fun new things and sports! Other then nannying I have coached volleyball for the past 8 years anywhere from 6th grade to High School Varsity. I have my bachelors degree in Psychology with a specialization in child development and after that plans of getting a Master in mental health counseling for school aged kids! I have extensive infant/toddler/kid experience as it has been my job for the past few years! I have done things from “shorter" jobs such as date nights and giving rides to places, all the way up to overnights where I spent the entire week with three boys while their parents were out of the country. My past experiences make me very versatile so I am open to anything that you might need help with from young kiddos needing bottle feeding, sleep training, food transitioning, potty training, etc. And for older kids I’m happy to give homework help, create and implement structured days, prepare meals, and clean up. A couple random things I honestly love are running errands/grocery shopping and doing laundry. I understand life is unpredictable so I’m happy to provide sick care! The most kids I've watched at once not including playdates was 4 at a time and it was a blast. I would say that I am a very flexible and understanding person and am always happy to to grow and change with your family’s needs. I think it's very important to build a good relationship with the kid(s) and parent(s) so it's a nice experience for everyone. I love getting outside and playing and even going on day trips to explore! I am fully vaccinated and have my own car (with 7 seats) including two toddler car seats and a clean driving record! I enjoy time with kids so much, specially with little ones. I speak Spanish, English and basic French. Also, I am an outdoor person and I really love arts, specially singing! I used to be an AuPair in Beaverton for 1 year and 7 months. I watched three kids: a 10 months-old, a 3.5 years-old and a 5.5 years-old. I was in charge of waking them up, preparing meals, make sure they brush their teeth, preparing baby’s bottle, changing diapers, dropping off and picking up the older ones to school, takings them to the park to play, setting playdates with friends, to the library, potty training, teaching the little one to speak (I used to speak to him Spanish and he understood very well!) and to walk. It was an amazing experience! I left and dedicated myself to my career (I got a bachelors degree in Mass communication) around the world: Mexico, Venezuela and Spain. I just came back to the US and my previous host family received me to stay while I set everything up here. The younger kid is now 7 years-old! Before coming to Beaverton I spent a month in Chicago, since my sister lives there and I took care of 2 siblings: a 3 years old girl and a 8 years old boy. I can give you references and my resume.
