I love working with children because of my 14 nieces and nephews. I have had quite a few opportunities to stay for a week or two with my siblings and their children, and always enjoy playing with and teaching the children. Over the last summer I worked in a government funded summer program for children in Newport, where I was a teacher's aide to kids 5-8 years old. I had a good time from the first day, but am looking to babysit instead because the program was only for 5 weeks and I am currently in college so I need more of an income. I think what sets me apart from another sitter is having had the past 9 years to learn about how a child's brain works. I remember that when I only had two nieces neither of them liked me and I could not figure out why. But now both nieces love me and so do their siblings and cousins. The major difference from now and 9 years ago is that I have learned how to make silly faces and get little children to laugh!
