I come from a big family growing up with 7 other siblings in the household. I'm the oldest daughter of 5 other siblings. Being the oldest daughter came with a lot of responsibilities. Growing up throughout the years I spent those periods being the surrogate parent to my younger siblings, always being on call for my mother 24/7/365. Watching over kids started when I would do little babysitting jobs for my mothers friends, while they worked or went out, and that's when I knew I was good with kids, and loved being around them. I am First Aid and CPR certified, I also took 2 Childhood Development classes in 10th and 11th grade. Life with children can be unpredictable and I know I'm able to adapt to the situations they face. Being a childcare provider is a rewarding experience for me and I strive to provide all the support children need as they grow and develop in all aspects of their lives. From infant to preschool ages providing childcare allows me to be active and keeps me learning, too. I provide gentle and consistent guidance so kids can explore and experience the world safely. There is not one part of a child's life that is more important than another: creating positive social experiences, supporting emotional development, providing age appropriate cognitive challenges, encouraging creativity, and reinforcing self-help skills. That all sounds very formal but all it really means is I encourage (and will join in) all types of play! I take my cues from what your child likes to do. I listen to parents also and work to ensure the child has the consistency he/she needs. My experience in childcare comes from raising my two now grown children (one with special needs), working as a special education paraprofessional for 12 years, and 4 years of childcare in a daycare setting and in private homes.
