I’m a 50 year old grandmother who up until recently watched my 4 year old granddaughter 3 days a week (from 6 weeks old) while her mom worked. Then she started preschool and I quit watching her. My name is Cathy and I have been working with children for over 30 years. My grandmother was the director of the First United Methodist Nursey School in Santa Monica, California where I would spend days playing and reading to children starting at the age of 13. I nannied for 6 month old twins in the summer of my junior year of high school and for two older children full time the following summer. In college I worked at Greenlake After School Program in Seattle as a teaching assistant for ages 5-12 years my junior and senior years. In the summers during college I traveled back to California where I worked again at the nursery school as a teacher for the three year old group. My responsibilities included playground supervision, art and reading activities, lunch prep and nap time supervision. I graduated from the University of Washington and moved to Spokane where I worked at the YMCA in the three year old room and substituted in the infant room frequently. I married into the military and had three children of my own who are now in their teens. We have all frequently helped watch children of our military friends and still help babysit as well as pet sit/ foster. I have been certified in first aid and CPR numerous times and can provide references upon request. Put simply, I love being around children! They are such a joy and I find happiness in helping provide a safe and nurturing environment for them to learn and grow. I respect their feelings and feel confident in my ability to provide a routine with structure, yet can adjust to their needs if the occasion arises with patience and care.

I began my career in childcare during high school. While in school, I took parenting, nutrition, and child services courses. After high school, I worked in childcare settings, which led me to my current position. I currently work at a daycare in Clarksville, Tennessee, where I have received CPR and first aid training. I love and enjoy engaging in creative crafts, playing games, learning activities, and singing and dancing to music with children. In my free time, I enjoy turfing, skating, cooking, and baking. My name is Artaja Begley, and I am a dedicated college student pursuing a degree that combines Early Childhood Education and Biology, with the long-term goal of becoming a teacher who works with young children while also incorporating my passion for animals into my career path. Through my coursework, I am gaining a strong foundation in child development, learning theories, and classroom practices, as well as biological sciences that strengthen my ability to understand growth, health, and overall well-being. I bring over two years of professional experience working in a licensed daycare setting, where I cared for children ranging from infants to Pre-K aged students. I am a very recently retired speech- language pathologist with years a years of experience working with children from infancy through adulthood. I raised my own child who has ADHD and high-functioning autism, in addition to being an auntie to a niece who has autism and cerebral palsy and a nephew who has Aspergers.
