My name is Rahel Deleso, and I want to tell you why you’ll be glad I’m taking care of your children. I have eight years paid experience, including families with children ranging from newborn to nine years old. I have great child skills combined with ability to expose children to new cultural experiences. My most recent position is with a mom of two boys – a newborn and just under three years old. She is a professional analyst working from home, so I have to be conscious of her need for undisturbed work time throughout the day. From 8 am to 4 pm, the children spend their time playing games, enjoying age-appropriate activities, and having homemade lunches. My client often expresses her appreciation for my adaptability, enthusiasm, and ability to handle any situation. My prior clients were a professional family with two children which grew to three while we were together. In addition to the activities above, I was responsible for picking up the older boy from pre-school, and when the third child was born, helping with infant care, and taking care of the two older boys when one of the parents wasn’t home. I normally worked afternoons/early evenings Monday thru Friday, and occasionally took on a Friday or Saturday evening when the couple wanted a “date night”. This family would happily tell you that they considered me a part of their family, and the children still ask after “Miss Rahel” even though it has been several years since they moved from Dallas. In addition to those positions, I returned to Ethiopia in 2021 and 2022 to help my sister care for her two newborn children, a girl, and a boy. Love for my niece and nephew was so great that I put work here in the USA aside to ensure that they both got off to a good start with structure and loving care in their lives. In my culture, children are central to happy family life, and we practice love and positive reinforcement discipline when caring for them.
