I have been working with infants and children for the last 10 years and I also have three children of my own. I have my Associate's degree in Psychology and I am continuing my education in hopes to become an Adolescent Clinical Therapist. I am also CPR and First Aid Certified. I love working with kids on a personal level by learning their personality. I use a hands-on approach to gain the trust of both parent and child. Providing childcare isn't just a job, it's accepting to play a large role in a child's life and help guide them as they grow and develop. I love fun and smiles but I also like to promote educational activities appropriate to the child's age (for example going over the alphabet or doing puzzles with a toddler, or practicing tummy time with an infant!) I strive to become not only their babysitter, but one of their best friends. I have a genuine love and passion for kids and I have realized this is my life's calling. I think that providing childcare would be the best job for me while I am continuing my education because it's doing what I love, working in the direction I plan to go with my career and also allows me to keep my son with me while I work, which gives him the opportunity to interact with other children. I have excellent writing and verbal skills, my specialty is drawing and arts & crafts, skilled hider, below average seeker, animal lover, excellent board game player, excellent story time reader and swing pusher, great at cuddling and I know the tickle monster very well, excellent boo-boo kisser, and I may not be the best singer or dancer but that doesn't stop me from putting on a show. I don't mind embarrassing myself for a laugh (well for the kids at least)! It's so easy to make them smile and I absolutely love doing it.

Hello Families 🫶🏾 😊 I look forward to connecting with families who are comfortable with me bringing my totally terrific three year old daughter Rae. Rae is a sweet & friendly toddler who loves meeting new kids of all ages. She often imitates me in my line of working by assisting with care task such as handing babies their bottles, pacifiers, helping to clean up or even showing younger children how to do task 👩🏾‍🏫 We are a very outdoorsy duo and love to find new activities to do everyday such as neighborhood walks, parks, indoor play places, museums, farms, zoos, etc. I believe learning/discovery happens best outside the home. It also promotes appropriate social interactions with people, animals and the current environment. ☀️ Whenever indoors with children I turn my focus on learning, development skills, imagination play, crafts & mind stimulation depending on their age group. For older children I focus on life skills such a cleaning habits, preparing simple meals , engaging in hobbies , social knowledge and more!✏️ I have experience in montessori learning and practice with my own child. I feel that speaking to children as human beings gives them respect & compassion towards their feelings, even the big ones. This allows them to feel heard & know that what they feel and say matters. These are all ideas & concepts that I would love to bring to a future family 💜 I am available for House-Manager & personal assistant positions including task such as: booking appts & travel. Organizing events, updating calendars, meal prep, house cleaning, decluttering and organizing, transportation, home/business shopping & so much more please reach out to me to discuss this pay scale! My lack of recent reviews is due to working with a nanny-share the last 2 years & recently as a House-Manager from October of 2024. My availability is super flexible! I can’t wait to hear from you 🤗 ⭐️ 13+ years experience (all ages/abilities) ⭐️I’m able to provide transportation needs ⭐️Comfortable with most pets ⭐️Food prep/cooking, cleaning experience ⭐️Ability to help with child development/schoolwork ⭐️ Non smoker ⭐️Able to provide clean background/references ⭐️willing to travel 25+ miles from Stafford,VA ⭐️Experienced with nanny-shares

Good morning! I do respite care for several families with children on the spectrum and have been part of their families for several years. I’ve earned an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology (school counsellor) and an ABA (RBT) certificate, and I'm currently pursuing a second degree in Special Education at UVA. I have cared for a 6-year-old for the past 3 years and am a good fit for a family seeking occasional care or a weekend break. I also provide weekend respite care for a 10-year-old and occasionally take him to the playground, the pool, Urban Air, horseback riding, or over weekends to give the family a break and de-escalate the tense home environment. I recently completed a practicum with students with special needs in third and fourth grades at Stafford Elementary School. I have a Commercial Driver’s License with a school bus endorsement (special needs) and am certified in First Aid, Trauma, CPR, and AED for infants and children. I am the father of a special needs child who is now a successful adult, and I've had two careers: one at NBC Television, where you might know the name Bob Wright, a past CEO and founder of Autism International (he has a grandchild on the spectrum), and the other as a Microsoft consultant. My ‘gift’ is that I am an active senior who wholeheartedly accepts these children for who they are, not where some think they should be. Outside activities with an experienced care provider, rather than a parent, are excellent environments for learning, for developing independence, and practicing acceptable social behaviors. I am a retired Microsoft tech guy who got involved in the Autistic community by volunteering with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. I can schedule a video Zoom introduction, prior to meeting in person. A FACEBOOK POST OF FREDRICKSBURG PARENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN “Hello all! I am in the Navy and, luckily, receive Respite Care services through EFMP. Our respite care provider is Gary Masters. He has been in our family’s lives for over a year now and is a fantastic human. I write this post because he has the time and is looking to help another family, either through respite care or if you need a trusted sitter for your autistic kiddo. Gary is a retired Microsoft tech guy who started getting involved in the Autistic community by volunteering with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He completed his BCBA (ABA) training and is currently finishing his masters in Special Education. He was vetted to be our respite care provider.
