I am a retired banking executive . After leaving the banking world I married a long time friend and we adopted a 10 yr old from Foster Care in Roanoke Va, she graduated Ocean Lakes High School and now works as a teachers assistant. My husband Mark and I took 81 hours of training for child care, childhood trama, special needs, multi family raising, and "NAMI" mental health training. In order to become Foster Parents you have to pass a background check, multiple home checks, and after approved continued home checks. I have the certificate of approval from Roanoke County Social Serves for Foster Care for up to 5 children. We also had to be CPR certified. We had our great great niece came to live with us 7/2017 she was 12 lbs at 1 yr old and Dr said failure to thrive. She and her Dad lived with us until 1/2019. She was above weight, height, physical fitness when they were able to move out. The father and mother learned parenting and child safety. I was a nanny for a 4 month old for a Navy Master Chief 8 months and they were transferred. For the last 8 months I have been a nanny for a Navy JAG Lawyer and his wife; whom is a Doctor at Sentara. They have 4 children 4, 3, 2, 11 months. Mostly caring for the youngest two but all when schools closed or children sick. Mother-in-law came to live with them so I am available. Hello! My name is Luanna, I am 23 years old and recently graduated from VCU with a bachelor's in psychology and criminal justice. Towards the end of my undergraduate studies, I shifted my focus on child development. I am working on my masters degree as well as my teaching license. I am CPR and first aid certified. I moved out to LA after graduation where I was a professional nanny for 11 years. I first started working with celebrity families and then had the opportunity to train with special needs children and their families in the behavioral health department at Cedars Sinai Hospital in LA. My husband and I left the city when we started our own family 12 years ago. I have many years experience with families and children with special needs. I am a trained ABA therapist. I have worked with multiples. I am trained to use nebulizers, epipens, trained in seizure first aid, (currently up to date on all CPR certifications and Covid protocols.) I have French family and speak french. My husband is from Argentina so I speak some Spanish, and there is certainly bit of a language jumble going on at family get togethers😊. It could be seeing a 10 year old feeling awesome because they crushed me at Monopoly, a 5 year old 300% involved in building a marble roller coaster, and as a mom, I totally appreciate the quiet peace of little infant snores. I like to swim, bike ride, enjoy sports and arts and crafts. I am used to travelling with families and finding ways to occupy and enrich the childrens' hours without using screens, while in a limited environment e.g. hotel room. My undergraduate degree was in Theater and I love to bring that creativity and humor to my work. I have spent many overnights with infants and children. Worked for a few years within the public school system. I am trained in RIE and infant care.
