I am currently enrolled at Kirkwood Community College, where I am taking online courses to gain my associates degree in Liberal Arts. After Kirkwood I plan to go to a University like Northern Iowa or into an Occupational Therapy Assistant Program to hopefully work in the pediatric side of that field. I have many years of previous experience being a babysitter as I spent my summers throughout middle school and high school babysitting my three younger cousins. While babysitting, I love doing fun crafts with the children, coloring pictures, going on walks, traveling to the park to play, doing fun girly things like painting nails or playing dress up with them. I am very patient and comfortable working with children of all personalities and any age. I am great at problem solving and love to be around children and build strong connections with them. Hello! My name is Maya VanDriel and I am a senior Elementary Education major and Special Education minor at UNI. I am graduating this Spring and then moving to Des Moines after graduation in mid May. I have had a wide variety of child care experiences. In high school I worked at a center that provided social and academic education to students with autism and other disabilities. I also nannied a student with down syndrome while in high school. Since being in college, I have joined Camp Adventure where I was a day camp counselor for children on military bases in Hawaii and Sicily over the summers. There, I programmed and implemented daily camp activities for school aged children. I also nannied a family last summer with 7 and 11 year old children.
