I served as a Servant Leader Intern for the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools, where I led literacy-based programs that aimed to empower and uplift children from underserved communities. With this roleni had to find and create creative activities to keep the children engaged and continuing to learn. I’m the eldest of the children in my family, so I discovered my natural caregiving nature at a young age. I have been a caregiver of people ages 3 through 93! The elderly are such treasure troves of wisdom and history, and the children are good for my soul; they amuse me, surprise me and fascinate me. I like watching them grow, I like teaching them and getting the satisfaction that I have helped a young one learn learn. Currently I am caring for sisters—a three-year-old, and one who turned six years old last month. I most like to play and interact with them in way in which they learn.
