I started babysitting at 13, to Nannying, to Daycare (Infant room to Site Director), to Substitute Teaching (all grades), to the State of MO in Social Services as a Foster Care Worker & CA/N Hotline Investigator, to my last professional role as a Unit, House 6, Supervisor at a Therapeutic Residential Treatment Facility. 9 years ago, at 46, I took an early retirement to live out some dreams, one of which was to motorcycle the continental US, Canada & Mexico. About a year ago I decided to return to work in Childcare again at 52. I'm currently working M-F, 8-5 as both a Lead Pre-K Teacher (school year) & Lead School-Aged Summer Camp Counselor (Summers). I'm currently FT. Honestly, being a Nanny again would suit my lifestyle better at this time in a more personalized, relaxed, home setting focusing on all aspects of fostering child development. Being a Babysitter & Nanny for families were some of the best experiences I've ever had. I've Babysat & Nannied for all ages (infant to 14), cultures & genders, from 1-5 children. Most of the families I've worked for were 1-3 children. I love my current position as a Pre-K Teacher/Summer Camp Counselor, though I'm always willing to help out parents some eves & weekends who need a quality Babysitter. It's a good break from the classroom setting. I babysit and I also work at the Jewish community center I take care of the kids while their parents drop them off and sign the kids in and I play with them making sure they feel comfortable and safe while they're at the kid zone having a good time enjoying themselves also I am a Kid Zone teacher. However, I do answer the phone calls write down reservations times for the children to come in and answer questions. My name is Crystal. I am 40 years young with lots of time in childcare. I have two grown young men both looking into being in the arts. One loves music and making sounds. The other a graphic arts designer. As high schooler, I took Child Development because I've always loved children. I would say I want ten however, I was only able to have two. I am looking to foster a child and adopt. I was adopted at two weeks old so I learned to love unconditionally at an early age. I love to teach. I took seven years of Spanish in school and I'm refreshing as I continue to teach. I'm also learning sign language. I have numerous clock hours and CPR training from my current and previous jobs. I recently graduated college this May with a Bachelors of Social Work. My goal is to work with children, and possibly highschool/college students in the future, to provide guidance and empowerment through any issues, but I’d rather gain more work experience before I begin my career. I have younger siblings that have disabilities and suffer from past abusive situations, so I have lots of experience with different kids needing different approaches of care that is right for them. As for professional experience, I’ve been a babysitter for two families within the last seven months providing care for two children who are 1 and 5. I'm patient, compassionate, empathetic, understanding, mindful, ambitious, and observant. I have good communication and time-management skills.
