It’s more rewarding to see children grow and be better because I understand things aren’t perfect and the children don’t know how to improve. I like seeing how happy they get when they notice their improvement or progress. Children’s growth is most important for how they handle themselves in the real world and that also reflects on many factors like their own experiences, skills, basic knowledge of independence and their parents. Overtime I started to notice how parents want a break to go out but often times they can’t because they don’t know someone else to watch their child and trust that they’ll be okay with that set person while the parents are away. I started babysitting around 12 years old and would often watch my siblings that consisted of 2 sisters and 3 brothers, all my cousin’s kids that consisted of 6 girls and 2 boys, as well as my neighbor’s kids. Whenever the adults had a party, concert, appointment, errands, meet up, they would always ask if I’m okay with watching their kids and I said yeah, just let me know when you’re coming back, is there certain tasks I need to do or be aware of, what’s your phone number and who are you going with and if I could have their phone number as well. More about me and how I am, I’m very adaptable to kids because I know not everyone can do certain things so I’m patient with them and want them to know it’s okay that they’re struggling because it’s a learning experience so it won’t come as easily to them compared to others. I can cook food for them just fine so the only things I’ll ask, is how much they usually eat, what they don’t like, what they’re allergic to, and if they’re in their teens. I’d teach them verbally and visually why I do this and that while I’m cooking but I won’t teach them how to use a knife unless I get permission by the parents and they trust me to teach that to their child
