I am going to school for medical social work as well as a psych Dr. I love kids and have been babysitting since about 12 years old. I am very involved with youth and have been for some time in varying areas. One area was through my church COGIC Clubs, nursery and Vacation Bible School (VBS). I have volunteered in VBS for about 5 years, COGIC Clubs for 7 years and nursery also 7 years. This brought on a variety of ages, all of which I was very comfortable with. I have worked at a youth day camp every summer for the last 6 years and plan to continue doing so. As I got older I began to take care of neighbor’s and friend’s children as a part time job after school. When I started working as a cashier at a local market I would interact with kids that came through my lane because I truly enjoyed it and loved to make them laugh or feel included and heard. I had a customer ask if I would be interested in a part time job taking care of their child and I enthusiastically jumped on the chance. That child is now an adult in college and I am still part of their family to this day. I also have a younger cousin I grew up around who is blind and on the severe end of the autistic spectrum. I am a new auntie and helped with the birth of my nephew who came a month early. The youngest child I was employed to take care of was a month old and I have taken care of children up to 14 years old. I love to do arts and crafts, anything outdoors, especially swimming, riding my bike and kayaking , checking out museums and other cultural events, reading, writing, listening to music, cooking and cleaning. I enjoy teaching children and have a lot of patience with them. I have been CPR certified in the past and am willing to update my certification. My husband and I have a 9 month old puppy currently which is a lot of work and seems harder than taking care of children! I have helped to facilitate potty training, sleep training, bottle and pacifier weaning.
