Hi! My name is Olivia and I am currently a freshman at North Carolina Wesleyan University. I have worked in childcare for my entire life. In terms of a professional setting, I spent over a year working in childcare for the YMCA. With this, I would be watching dozens of children, from ages 3 months-12 years, with 1 or 2 other coworkers. This environment was stressful and chaotic at moments, but I never once doubted my ability to safely care for those children. I would also find and create age-appropriate activities for kids of all ages to allow a fun and exciting environment for everyone. I have much more experience in informal settings, such as babysitting or nannying. Since I was 12 years old I have been babysitting infants and toddlers. Continuing through my adolescence I began to watch children of older ages (up to 14 years old), and gained skills such as; housekeeping, cooking, pet sitting, and much more. In recent years I have taken on a more nanny-like role with a family. In this role, I often watched 4 children for multiple nights. Being the sole caretaker for these children, I was responsible for their meals, homework, bath time, bedtime, and much more. The longest period I have watched children for is a week while the mother was in Florida. This experience is what solidified my full confidence in caring for children over long periods of time. I got each of those kids to school on time everyday that week, kept them fed, and kept them happy, and that is always my goal. Overall, my goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for any child under my care. Along with ensuring they are having fun with age-appropriate activities that enrich their brain!
