Salutations Everyone! My name is Christine Bree Wirthlin, but please call me Bree (like the cheese—just spelled differently!). I’m originally from North Carolina and moved to chase some big dreams and continue my education. I’m currently a graduate student at Antioch University, working toward my Master’s in Dance/Movement Therapy with a concentration in Couples and Family Therapy. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with double minors in Human Development & Family Science and Sociology—which basically means I really love learning how kids grow, think, feel, and play! I have lots of hands-on experience with kiddos, from tiny infants to energetic 13-year-olds. I spent about five years working with the Autism Society of North Carolina and I also worked for a Behavioral Health company as a Behavioral Technician , supporting children with diverse needs through structure, creativity, patience, and lots of encouragement. I currently work in Childwatch at the YMCA, where I help create a safe, fun space so parents can enjoy a workout or a little well-deserved self-care. I’m also the oldest of four girls, so babysitting has been part of my life for as long as I can remember! From bedtime routines and snack time to imaginative play and calming big emotions, I’m comfortable jumping into all parts of a child’s world. I’m looking for babysitting opportunities while I continue my graduate studies. I truly love working with children and watching their imaginations run wild—whether that means dance parties, art time, storytelling, or cozy wind-down moments before bed. I am a mother of three successful adult children. I’ve spent my life caring for children of all ages. Most recently, I resigned from my position as a high school English teacher after 18 years of service in the same district where I worked starting as a para educator in the elementary school. I hold a Masters degree in education where child development and psychosocial courses were required. My only calling has been to care for children. My goal is always to foster a love for learning, creating, and exploring in a safe space and place where children can feel empowered and motivated to challenge themselves. I always seek to teach children, kindness, and open mindedness so that they may gracefully and bravely interact with the with the world around them. I would describe myself as warm and nurturing, as my high school students always told me I gave major, “ mom vibes.” My experience caring for young children includes nannying for three young boys as a college student, working for the VNA’s after school program and summer camp program, also as a college student, childcare work at a gym, and raising my own children.My references primarily come from colleagues and principals I’ve worked with.
