My names is Alexis Blotzer, I am originally from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I moved to Rochester to go to school at Rochester Institute of technology. I graduated in 2016 with a degree in interior design. After I graduated, I decided to go outside of my comfort zone to work in a government program called Rochester AmeriCorps. My duty was to be a big brother supporter to kids with in the Rochester city school district. I absolutely loved every moment of it and made me change my career to working with kids. During the first two weeks of August, I work a camp in Rush NY. The camp is called Camp Hacamo, Here I work with individuals ages 7-30 with severe emotional / behavioral disorders including autism. Woking Rochester AmeriCorps and working Camp Haccamo has trained me to become CPR, First Aid and AED certified through American Heart Association, Gandhi Non-vionelce Intensive Certified, Opiod Overdose Training provided by NY State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and Disaster Preparedness Training provided by the American Red Cross. I also have behavior training through Camp Haccamo including how to properly transport individuals who are in wheel chairs. Awards upon completion of Rochester AmeriCorps, I have gained over 2,000 hours of community service as well as the Eli Segal Education Award for completion.
