My name is Kara and I am 35 years old. I have worked in the education system for over 14 years. I was either a personal aide or a classroom aide for all of my school setting jobs. The age range of children I’ve worked with in a professional setting are newborn-21. I worked in the special education area as well, often with autistic kiddos but also with a lot of disabilities and special needs. Growing up, my grandma fostered and adopted 8 kids with a wide range of disabilities. My uncle was paralyzed and had CP, one of my aunts had Down’s syndrome, another cousin was born with FAS. So being exposed to different types of people has definitely given me a certain type of empathy that the average joe isn’t normally exposed to. I also helped raise all 4 of my older sisters children from the time they were born up until now. The oldest is 22 and the youngest is 14. When they were babies I had them all the time because my sister wasn’t the most fit mother because she was a teen mom. So I spent the majority of my life help raise all 4 of the kids. Needless to say, I’ve been around kids with all sort of abilities and disabilities my entire life. I absolutely love kids, I love being able to help them learn and grow. It’s a beautiful process. I am currently not working for any schools at the moment because of Covid. The school system has been cracked for a very long time, but after Covid hit, it was taken to a whole other level. It started to truly suck the love I had for the job out of me and I decided I needed to take a step back because I didn’t want to end up hating something that I’ve loved doing for my entire life. Hopefully we can talk and see if this would be a good match for all of us!
