Hi there! My name is Lhamo, and I am a nanny with over 25 years of experience caring for children, especially infants and toddlers, with many references available. I live in the SE Woodstock neighborhood of Portland and have worked with more than 10 families over the years. I am also a mother of three whom I raised while working as a nanny. My oldest son is 28 and recently graduated from NYU graduate school, my 22-year-old son transferred from the U.S. Naval Academy and now attends Oregon State University’s Honors College, and my youngest daughter is 17 and in her senior year of high school. I’ve always wanted to pursue teaching, and being a nanny has allowed me to do that in my own way. I enjoy reading with children, playing, taking them outside and to the neighborhood park, and helping them develop their language, communication, and social skills. I speak Mandarin Chinese and Tibetan fluently and studied economics in college. I especially enjoy watching children learn, become more independent, and develop their own personalities as they grow. Having raised three children of my own and cared for many others, I’ve learned a lot about the different stages children and families go through. I enjoy building a good relationship with parents, sharing my experience when it is helpful, and working together on routines, behavior, communication, and their child’s overall growth and development. I believe open communication between parents and caregivers makes a big difference. I am also happy to help with light cleaning and folding laundry. My preferred schedule is around 8:00/8:30 AM to 3:30/4:00 PM. I’ve found that this works best for my family at home while also giving the children I care for a good daily balance of learning, playing, outdoor time, meals, and naps. After more than 25 years, I continue being a nanny because I genuinely enjoy caring for children, teaching them, watching them grow, and becoming close with the families I work with. It has been a very meaningful part of my life.

Other then nannying I have coached volleyball for the past 8 years anywhere from 6th grade to High School Varsity. A couple random things I honestly love are running errands/grocery shopping and doing laundry. I understand life is unpredictable so I’m happy to provide sick care! The most kids I've watched at once not including playdates was 4 at a time and it was a blast. I would say that I am a very flexible and understanding person and am always happy to to grow and change with your family’s needs. I think it's very important to build a good relationship with the kid(s) and parent(s) so it's a nice experience for everyone. I love getting outside and playing and even going on day trips to explore! I am fully vaccinated and have my own car (with 7 seats) including two toddler car seats and a clean driving record! I enjoy time with kids so much, specially with little ones. I speak Spanish, English and basic French. Also, I am an outdoor person and I really love arts, specially singing! I used to be an AuPair in Beaverton for 1 year and 7 months. I watched three kids: a 10 months-old, a 3.5 years-old and a 5.5 years-old. I was in charge of waking them up, preparing meals, make sure they brush their teeth, preparing baby’s bottle, changing diapers, dropping off and picking up the older ones to school, takings them to the park to play, setting playdates with friends, to the library, potty training, teaching the little one to speak (I used to speak to him Spanish and he understood very well!) and to walk. It was an amazing experience! I left and dedicated myself to my career (I got a bachelors degree in Mass communication) around the world: Mexico, Venezuela and Spain.
