(2-3 days a week) Experience includes working as an English Assistant at a primary school in Spain, coaching gymnastics to children ages 3-12 at Oregon Gymnastics Academy, and over five years of private childcare for kids ages 4 months-11 years. I have a musical background and enjoy musical activities, crafts, reading, and being outside with children. I'm also comfortable with tutoring/schoolwork assistance, pets, cleaning, meal prep, and transportation. References are available. 17 years of safe, engaging, skill building fun facilitation; supplemented with homework help, tutoring, and academic support... While attending university, I began facilitating recreation therapy respite for families adjusted by developmental differences. I also continued with the YMCA, YWCA and local youth bureau; all while also living and serving with the local volunteer fire department. Upon graduation I accepted a couple roles as Program Director, but soon realized that front line work was my truest passion. Since my work as a Family Advocate, Wilderness Therapy Guide, Kids Ski Instructor, "Manny" (Nanny), Firefighter, Alpine Manager, Mountain Bike Coach, Lifeguard, and Summer Camp Director for multiple camps, I have gained and honed a diverse skill set. My experience provides families with a compassionate, professional, fun loving, supportive, flexible, and nurturing care giver. Philosophically, I believe in and promote autonomy and democracy; encouraging choice, individuality, compromise, and teamwork. Most recently, my work has been as a Nanny. I have worked with infants and young toddlers age range from 0-3 years. Additionally, I hold certification in "Advance Child Care Training", and Infant/Child CPR and First-Aid certification. I am a non-smoker, and reliable. I have a AAS Degree in Business, additionally I have completed several Child Development courses through “Portland Community College-Sylvania Campus”, and various online sources. I’m from the East Coast and moved to Portland two years ago and live outside Ladds Edition. I’m an experienced nanny and went to school at Western Kentucky University for special education. I am also an experienced petsitter and was a veterinary technician for five years I absolutely love spending time with kids and watching them grow. I refuse to lose my child like wonder. I have babysat for many friends and families over the past 7 years, before and after school, on weekends and consistently throughout the summer. I also worked in a daycare, part-time during high-school, interacting and taking care of children starting as young as 2 months old. I love going on adventures, playing sports, being outside, trying new & creative things, baking/ cooking as well as working together and using an imagination to have fun! I come from a family of 10 of us.(19080s) I am on the younger end . At 7 years old I started baby sitting my infant niece and from their on out a new nephew or niece was born each year. Sometimes multiples… Now I’m in my 40s blessed with 2 littles of my own. Looking for work while having my children as well. I have 2 seats available in my vehicle if needed to run children around. My children are 2 and 6 year old girls .. we love to stay active. We go to many parks . We play softball. 6 year old is already hitting without the tee. She also plays in LO soccer club and goes to mountain park church for 1st grade. I can only watch 2 children at a time being that only 2 will fit in my vehicle in the event of an emergency.

I have been babysitting on and off throughout my entire life. I watched, played with and drove my own sister in my teens (we're 7 years apart) and now as an adult have watched her children (my nephews) from infanthood to preteen years. I also babysat for friends and acquaintances in my late teens and early 20s. I love playing make believe games with kids and reading stories together. (I'm a budding children's author.) Their sense of wonder and joy are so fun to be a part of. Being a caring constant in a child's life is so important for their short and long-term development. I went to Medical Assisting school in 2011 and learned a little about early childhood development and psychology. As a phlebotomist for 10 years, I was proficient in: allaying fears, making people feel seen and heard, being punctual and reliable, communicating to the patient's care team when any concerns came up, being empathetic in care, first aid and CPR, advocating for my patients, and teaching mindful breathing exercises to anxious people of all ages. I believe all of these things can apply to caring for infants and children, especially in assisting your children in feeling seen, valued, and understood.
