Hello my name is Shea. I am currently working full time as an occupational therapist (7-3:30; M-F). I worked at a child care center called The Cuddle Zone Learning Center located in Allentown for a little over 4 years where I was an assistant teacher for the school age program for 2 years and lead teacher for the infant room for 2 years. In Pittsburgh, where I attended undergrad, I worked at another child care center called the Children's Center of Pittsburgh. At this center I worked with children aged from 3 months to 2 years. I also supervised children at a local church in Pittsburgh while their parents attended the service. I have my clearances, FBI fingerprints, CPR, first aid, and completed trainings in mandated reporting, supervision, etc.

I've taken care of children and infants for decades. The amazing thing about children, at any age, is how dynamic they are. It is a real pleasure to take care of an infant or a child--there are insights to delight me at any age! I was a teacher at the NYC Department of Education for almost 26 years, and I taught English to students from 7th grade to the senior level, frequently teaching AP English Literature as well as AP English Language. My students were amazing people--curious, intelligent, and hardworking. In terms of certification, I hold permanent English certification in the state of NY, and have earned three degrees: B.A. in Special Honors and Classical Studies, M.A. in English (with a specialty in Creative Writing), and an M.S. in English Education. In each of my courses of study, I have earned honors or have graduated with academic distinction (I have copies of all my transcripts). I had CPR certification in the past, but am scheduled to take a First Aid/CPR for children course on March 13th with the American Red Cross.
