I have worked with children between the ages of six weeks and 13 years old for 16 years. I have written and implemented curriculum, schedules and lessons for my classrooms. I believe that children need structure and boundaries, but also need to have fun and be nurtured and loved. I have driven a van for the past five years. I believe that children are our future and we need to teach them manners, beliefs, respect and morals. We are who they look up to and learn from. With babysitting, I have watched the children, helped with homework, done laundry, done dishes, swept, vacuumed, mopped and various other light housework responsibilities. I have also taken children on outings to the park, petting zoos and other fun/educational places. I have a daughter of my own, who is 13 years old. I have been living in the SouthWest Virginia area for most of my life and am currently settling into the area! A little about me, I worked at a local daycare in Radford VA called Grace A Child, where I was the preschool teacher for two years. Some of the responsibilities I had as being the preschool teacher were potty training, lesson planning/ activities, evaluating children and communicating with families and providing a safe and comforting space for children. After leaving Grace A Child I began working at a childcare center in Blacksburg VA called Rainbow Riders with two year olds for close to two years where I started babysitting for about ten different families from weekend to weekend. I provided care for birthday party help, date nights, parents working on weekends and parents running errands with families of one to three children ranging from a year and a half to ten years old. Many families have said I do a great job at keeping their child safe, happy, calm and they looked forward to seeing me when I am scheduled to come care for them.
