I use lots of positive reinforcement and make a point of recognizing their successes—even the little ones! With older children, I also enjoy introducing age-appropriate ideas about goals and strategies through games and everyday activities. Sometimes just looking at a game from a different perspective can be a lot of fun for them. I've previously been certified in CPR and food safety, although those certifications have expired.
