Hi families! I am a recent graduate from the University of San Diego, now living back at home in MN until grad school. I was a communication major but looking to go into Speech Pathology post-grad. I have 7 years of experience babysitting but also have a brother with pretty severe special needs, so I have always been a caretaker in some way! I love being interactive and doing fun activities. I recently moved to Hugo after living in South Dakota for many years. While there, I consistently babysat for a family with five children, ranging in age from a newborn to 10 years old, multiple times a week for four years. I’m currently a senior in high school and truly miss spending time caring for kids. I’m available Monday through Friday starting in the early afternoon (about noon), and I’m also free on weekends. While I’m not currently CPR certified, I’m more than willing to complete certification. I have experience with children of all ages, with a special love for babies and toddlers. I’m comfortable with meal preparation, diaper changes, homework help, and engaging kids in crafts and playtime. Hey, my name is Josie I am 22 years old and love being around children. They are so fun and I love seeing them grow! I have a lot of babysitting/nannying experience! I work at a child care center+ nanny and I love it! At the childcare center I work as a flout which means, I’m trained in all the rooms ages infant- school ages. I also have my CPR and first aid certification. Something unique about me is that I have a stutter, this doesn't stop me from being my fun loving and bubbly self. One of the reasons I love kids is that they are so understanding and love to learn and ask questions!

I love working with kids because of the teaching element that I can help with; toddlers are constantly learning and asking questions, so I find that it's really helpful to kids if somebody is willing to be there to help them safely explore their world. I have experience in a daycare setting with toddlers (both younger and older) and pre-schoolers. I have minimal experience with infants, but I'm always willing to learn more! I love to help! I was a daycare aide/assistant, so I am very much used to child related housekeeping, helping kids with daily needs (snack times, naps, toileting, helping them through tantrums, etc.), and keeping them entertained with different activities (I personally am very fond to arts and crafts!). I have formal training in first aid, and informal training in CPR. I am a very safety-conscious person, I'm always on the lookout for anything that could be harmful. My approach to discipline is not to punish, but to teach. I do not believe in physical discipline. I find that most of the time when a child is acting out, they really just need somebody to talk to them about their struggles, and I will always be that person to guide them into how to properly express their feelings. I am a rising junior at University of Massachusettes Amherst, but I love spending my summers at home in Minnesota. I am majoring in Psychology and Legal Studies on a pre-law track. I come from a big family with 3 younger siblings and a puppy which makes me well acquainted with the joys and chaos that comes along with it. I am CPR and first-aid certified as well as having extensive care working with children in summer camp settings and art classes.
