Amanda’s Bio
I began helping care for my great-grandmother when I was very young. She lived in a nursing home, had severe diabetes, & lost her vision before I was born due to the diabetes. I spent a lot of summer days wandering the halls of that nursing hlme, helping the residents every chance I got. I made quick friends with them, & I guess I have them to thank for my chosen profession. My mother always said that I was a nurturer. She worked with mentally challenged people in a place called The Arc, formerly known as Skills Unlimited, helping them prepare for the workforce. Later she worked in group homes, where I also spent a lot of my youth. I have worked in 2 nursing homes as a CNA, and the Senior Care Center at Walker Baptist Medical Center as a Mental Health Tech.
