I enjoy being around elderly people. There is much to learn hanging out with them. Most are easy going and have great stories and conversation. I tend to get along with elderly people. I guess you could say I have an old soul.

I have worked as a Direct Care Provider with Volunteers of America, in the past, caring for disabled adults. I learned how to keep up with their routines, medication administration, and recording vitals. I have also been CPR and First aide trained. The position also incorporated things like light housekeeping, cooking and even transporting for doctors appointments, outings, etc.

I hold an Associate's Degree from Wallace State Community college in Hanceville, where I took Health Information Technology. I took this program as a means to learn things like Medical Terminology, Basic Life Support, and get a more in-depth understanding of various illnesses.

I am also a licensed Cosmetologist!

My late husband was sick with several comorbidities and the medical professionals always seemed to speak in circles, not giving me or him a good understanding of his conditions and medications. So I did something about the obvious barrier... I went to college to learn it.

My mother is currently a resident in a local nursing home. She is bed-ridden with Hemiplegia. So keeping her company has been a priority of mine.

Various reasons like the above mentioned give me the compassion, ability, and understanding to believe I would be a good sitter for any elderly person in our community.
