Kendra’s Bio
Hello!
My name is Kendra and I am a full-time MA candidate at NYU. I'm looking for a part-time job that will keep me relatively active, engaged, and a bit distracted from writing my thesis! :-)
I also have over seventeen years of child care experience, which includes work with all ages, needs, and up to four children at a time. I began babysitting my neighbor’s newborn when I was 12-years-old and quickly became the neighborhood sitter — a job I happily continued throughout high school. In college, I also babysat for different families, while being a Resident Advisor. I've been lucky enough to remain close with some of these families.
Beginning in 2010, I also worked at a magical place called Camp Krem for people with special needs in California's Santa Cruz mountains. I returned three more summers, and volunteered throughout the school year. Although I connected with many campers, I bonded with one in particular, and after speaking with his mom, was able to become his social aide. Patrick was 11 when I met him and low-functioning autistic. We worked on social lessons by doing fun, physical activities such as running, hiking, painting, bowling, and basketball. Patrick is now 19, and we have remained close friends.
That's all to say I have a breadth of experience and I'm open to a variety of situations. I'd also be happy to provide references upon request.
I look forward to meeting you!
Thanks,
Kendra
