Hi!
I’m Charmaine, and I plenty of care experience in every department, even elderly and special needs . I have had 2 live in jobs, one with an elderly woman with Parkinson’s disease and dementia, and another lady in her 40s and I actually live there for 10 years with provided room and board. We had a very good relationship , and includingI lived with each of them very well, while gaining the experience. I would also have a nanny job on the side if time permitted it, which it usually was as each client had at least 2 caregivers as well as family.
Im a very empathetic person by nature and I think that’s what’s kept me in this industry for so song long. Staying active and getting out for walks and other active activities. Im all ears as well so if they want to talk about the good old days”. Or watch a TV Show or movie that lets them reminisce. looking through photo albums is always a good way to keep their memory going as well.
As far as special needs goes, depending on their mental and physical capability, there’s many things that you can do to stay entertained and active. Going for walks even in a wheelchair is a great way or even walking around the mall you’re going on outings like to see a movie. The possibilities are really endless. :)
