I have always loved kids. Growing up I was the youngest sibling and cousin in my family so I was always the one getting taken care of, which is most likely what made me want to spend time with children in the first place. I have been a care provider for a child for about 2 1/2 years. I watched him grow from a 1 year old infant to a 3 year old toddler going off to preschool. I was there 4 days a week for about 10 hours a day. Throughout those days I would cook him his meals, make sure he got to play outside, and read him to sleep for his naps and bedtime. I became very attached to the child, we had a special bond that is very hard to explain. I still keep in touch with him and his family even though I am no longer the care provider because he is in preschool. Being with this child for those few years made me realize how much I connect with the kids. I had to be very patient because he was a toddler boy who wanted to destroy everything, but I was able to discipline in a way that he knew he needed to change his behavior but also kept that bond.
